Before the band's formation in 2001, Wentz was a fixture of the Chicago hardcore scene and was the lead singer and songwriter for Arma Angelus, a metalcore band. The tour was announced in January 2014, and was later expanded in April 2014. It was the first time the bands toured together, hence the name Monumentour.
